🦒 Bmw Z4 Roof Not Working Red Light

Hi, update on my post about roof issue. Was getting "orange light" when trying to activate roof. Ordered micro switch from BMW dealer. Due to a last minute trip not having the time to replace switch myself. Called Dealer they fit me in. All in under 200.00 USD. They replaced switch, resolved my headlight issue, washed car and cleaned out my 4) Keep the hinges and frame clean, and well lubricated. 5) I noticed that MY particular top, when closing, gets to about the 50% position, and then "falls" to the spot where it begins the final "closing" cycle to latch the front down. This "falling" is about 18-24", and it jerks pretty hard when it hits the end. Dietcokeman. Lower the roof as normal to the point where it's stopping . Then pull the red handle on the bypass cable to the bypass position and see if the roof drops to the correct position ..all the bypass cable does is allow the hydraulic fluid to flow through the pipes without driving the Rams that operate the roof . It unlatched from the windshield and the windows go down but I tried pulling the red tab while someone else tries to push the top down (ended up snapping the red tab), I've pulled the red tab and the string in the middle of the trunk, I've made sure the shelf in the trunk is down, I've tried to put the top down while holding the top opening Definitely not coincidence!! The two boot catches were in the shut but not drawn in position (ie; the draw-down motors were not activating) This was due to the right hand microswitch was not receiving 12v. It should receive 12v from the car roof module, but this is were the after-market module is wired in. What the convertible roof warning light means. During normal operation, the convertible roof warning light will illuminate when the roof is opening or closing. When this light shuts off, it indicates that everything has been locked down and normal driving can resume. Typically, the system will only warn the driver of a fault during startup. by Adamski » Sun Jan 29, 2012 1:57 pm. It's usually the micro switch warning light. Try raising the parcel shelf then lowering it again to re-set the switch. Bing. Legend. Posts: 26514. Joined: Sun Oct 02, 2011 6:19 pm. by Bing » Sun Jan 29, 2012 2:02 pm. Good advice - I left the parcel shelf up the other day, had to resort to the manual then 1. Turn ignition on and open convertible top to the shown position (service position), then stop. Now turn ignition off and pull key before continuing! From the right side, reach into the trunk and lift the luggage divider (1) into the upper position. Then remove plastic cover (2) by pulling toward the front of the car. Having similar issue w/ my 2006 Z4 top - was working fine, one day raising the top, it closed 98%, then just stopped before sealing to the windshield, red light now flashes and nothing responds to either up or down button (no window movement, no locking mechanism movement, no hydraulic movement or noise), so it seems like I have the same I believe the red light is only flashing because the sequence has stopped part way through. So once the obstruction is removed, the roof should close and the red light clear itself once the roof has closed. Denise & Keith. Alpine White, 2014 E89 20i M Sport (It's not a '12' plate! ) Seems to be OK, but after driving off and going over any bumps the red light starts flashing again. On getting out to look at the roof it appears that it is not quite completely down. The parcel shelf is in the lowered position. No orange lights, the roof opens and closes normally except for this problem. 80 posts · Joined 2006. #2 · Jul 14, 2011. Try resetting the two "dials" in the trunk. Sometimes if a box or something jostles one it will trip the safety so the top won't go down (but will still unlatch for some reason). Just raise both (so the top can't go down) then lower both and try to drop the top again. K. L68c9n.
